Building Hügelkultur Beds

Hügelkultur means “mound culture” or “hill gardening.” Although the name comes from Europe, growers around the world have used this method for many hundreds of years.

Hügelkultur beds are sometimes called “30 year raised beds” because they can benefit your garden for many years.

of the many storytelling channels available today. Opportunities
include strategic promotion of their business on social media;
connecting with customers on major platforms; and creating
meaningful connections with community members. As important is
understanding how to navigate the sometimes times fraught
interactions with reporters and journalists. This lesson plan provides
a broad overview of potential ways farmers can utilize free tools to
grow their business’ public visibility, tips for staying safe while
managing social media business accounts, and practice giving
interviews to reporters from traditional media outlets.

Climate Resilient Farming

Climate change is impacting growers of all sizes around the world. Changing precipitation patterns, longer and hotter summers, shifting pest pressures, are just a few of the factors impacting small growers disproportionately. This lesson plan provides an introduction to climate change, and offers strategies small growers can use to mitigate the risk to their small businesses.

These materials, including the presentation, interview role play activity sheet, and instructor guide, are intended for use by farmer trainers in a classroom setting. Present the Media Training PowerPoint presentation using the Instructor Guide to inform discussion and activities contained within the presentation.
